Senator Kate Lundy - Three Pillars of Open Government

Calling *all* NZOSS members and your friends. A strong turnout by FOSS folks would be great.

You are invited to meet with with Senator Kate Lundy, (ACT, Australia) 26th August 5pm-7.30pm The topic is Three Pillars of Open Government: What roles do we have in 21st century government? (http://www.katelundy.com.au/2009/06/20/three-pillars-of-open-government/)

Kate will be taking about how she, as a politician and a big advocate for ICT, can see citizens and government working together for
* Citizen-centric services
* Open and transparent government
* Innovation facilitation

"Innovation facilitation refers to the government responsibility to ensure the opportunities are made available for innovation that adds value to government data and systems, [taking into account] privacy, security or commercial responsibilities."

A a free-and-frank discussion panel session with Kate and others, will look at what we are doing in Australia and NZ .

(This will stoke the imagination if you plan to be at the free "Open Government Bar Camp" on the weekend 30/31 August (http://groups.google.com/group/nzopengovtbarcamp/web/attendees?pli=1).

Start time is 5.10 with Kate Lundy. Drinks and nibbles and networking at approx 6.40 or when we have solved most of the problems!
