NZOSS Informal Monthly Meeting - Wellington
NZOSS participants in the Wellington area meet over lunch once a month, as an informal opportunity to catch up and 'network'. An open invitation for other interested parties to join in, stands.
The meeting is on the First Wednesday of every month, at the food court within the BNZ Centre, 1 Willis St, Wellington Central. Look for the NZOSS/Tux logo. See you there!
NZOSS Committee Meetings
NZOSS Committee meetings are held via IRC on the third Monday of the month. The server is chat.freenode.net and channel is #nzoss. Meetings start around 8pm.
Local Linux User Groups
There are a number of local Linux User Groups around the country. Most hold regular monthly meetings covering a variety of topics. Details of these meetings may be found on the linux.net.nz site here.
Software Freedom Day
Software Freedom Day is a global, grassroots effort to educate the public about the virtues and availability of Free and Open Source Software. Over 330 teams took part in 2007, celebrating Free Software at schools, universities, parks, and many other public places. SFD worldwide is held on the third Saturday in September.
Software Freedom Day 2008 is Saturday 20th September.
Linux.Conf.AU 2009
The 9th Annual Australasian Linux Conference will be held in Hobart in January 2009. This event is one of the major grassroots Linux events that occur worldwide and attracts a very high calibre of speakers from all over the world. It is one of the few events that Linus Torvalds makes the effort to attend regularly.
