GeSHi is what it says on the box: a generic syntax highlighter. And an award-winning one at that. It started life in New Zealand as a project of Nigel McNie and has since attracted numerous contributors who have added support for dozens of programming languages.

Submission on Software Patents

Submitted by donchristie on July 1, 2009 - 15:11.

Peter Harrison has put together a strong submission to the Commerce Committee which is currently reviewing the Patent Bill going through Parliament. The NZOSS, like many others in the industry, is calling for a specific exclusion of Software as something that should be patentable.

The full submission is available here.

It is worth noting that the **Commerce** Committee only accepts submissions in hard copy format. It is disturbing that the committee responsible for reviewing an issue that is so fundamental to our industry seems to be so lacking in their own use of technology.

Many thanks to Peter for all his hard work on this.
