I wish to Congratulate Rachel in becoming President. We are honoured to have a new President that has the proven track record of success in the open source field that you do. In order for the NZOSS to be strong we need capable people with real passion for free and open source software. We are therefore very luck to have Rachel at the helm to take the solemn responsibility of piloting the society into the future.

You have big shoes to fill. Don Christie has been very successful in driving the society forward, introducing projects such as the New Zealand Open Source Awards and the Public Sector Remix Project. I believe you have the energy, passion and skills to drive our growth and promote open source in New Zealand even further. You will not be alone, with three new Councillors joining the NZOSS Council, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the society.

On a personal note I would like to say that I am honoured to be working with a group of people that have such commitment to helping others. At heart open source software is really about people helping people, in many ways, across a broad community. I look forward to continuing my service this community under our new leadership.

To Don, your service has been outstanding, and your example will certainly provide inspiration to those who drive our future. I must express a heartfelt thanks for all your efforts in the service of our
community.

Regards,

Peter Harrison
